Optimising Precision in Stainless Steel Welding

We recently completed a stainless steel project that truly highlights the power of advanced welding techniques and the importance of precision in achieving both strength and aesthetics.

Pulse Welding at its Best
By pushing our pulse welders to their full potential, we were able to optimize welding parameters, negating spatter and the need for excessive clean-up. Pulse welding offers superior fusion, making it ideal for ensuring both the strength and smoothness of each weld, outperforming traditional methods.

The Perfect Pair: Rotator and Pulse Welder
The first stage of welding is getting the equipment setup. Weld procedures were checked, and test pieces were welded to ensure the exact size of welds required were being reproduced. Using the rotator alongside the pulse welder resulted in some beautifully consistent and aesthetically pleasing welds. The combination of both tools truly brings out the best in the finish!

Precision Alignment
Ensuring the flange is perfectly parallel with the base plate required meticulous alignment. Our in-house machine shop was able to machine the ends of the pipe to be perfectly parallel, we then machined the hole in the plate to ensure that the pipe was perpendicular to the plate, we then lowered the flange onto the machined surface of the pipe, again guaranteeing the alignment was spot on.  The attention to detail in this step is crucial for a flawless final product.

Heat Management
After welding, we employed contra-heating and quenching to straighten the base plate, ensuring no warping or distortion. This step helps to maintain structural integrity and ensures everything fits perfectly on site.

Passivation for a Flawless Finish
Finally, we passivated the welds to remove surface contaminants. The result? A beautifully clean, durable surface with the added benefit of long-lasting protection.

Proud of the results and excited to continue delivering high-quality stainless steel work!
