Hard facing is a specialised metallurgical technique that enhances the wear resistance and longevity of metal components by applying a hard layer of material to their surfaces.
Since 2019, AI&S has offered the hard facing of materials, parts and equipment to best serve our customers’ machines. We have used our Lincoln Electric robot welders to apply hard facing and tungsten chip hard facing to improve the lifespan of ground-engaging and other high impact process tools.
This Lincoln Electric robot is capable of running at perfectly calculated feed and speed rates. The gravity-fed tungsten chip guides the chips into the weld pool, and distributes them throughout the surface of the weld, not just on top of the surface. This enhances the wear-resistant properties until the tool is down to its parent metal.
